Overwhelmed? Ask for Help!
Working from home, assisting my boys with distance learning, figuring out technical difficulties, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, keeping up with the dishes, the laundry, cleaning the house (we are all home now), and showing up to all the video conferences on time is overwhelming. I used to frantically run around trying to do it all.
Finally, I had the courage to ask for help!
It was easier than I thought, and my family was totally there for me to help. My husband is super helpful in the kitchen and with anything else I ask from him. It turns out my family cannot read my mind (anybody else thinks your family is a mind reader?), but when I ask, they are willing to show up. The boys took on the dishwasher, vacuuming and mopping the house. Is it as good as if I were to do it? Probably not, but this is just fine. It does not have to be perfect.
Repeating: it does not have to be perfect!!
This was a hard one to let go of.
In the end, I can keep my sanity, the boys are learning how to contribute to the household, my husband is super happy to see me more relaxed. It’s a win-win. I even have time now to read a book and feel accomplished.
We might feel like we need to care for our loved ones, for friends, co-workers but we also need to allow other people to care for us!
When was the last time you had the courage to ask for help? Try it!
