How I Schedule My Day for Maximum Productivity

It’s Monday morning. While I am going over my weekly calendar I think of each item what can I:

  • Automate.

  • Delegate.

  • Eliminate.

Monday mornings are great to go over your weekly calendar and visualize how your week will look like: meetings, presentations, project deadlines, kid’s after-school activities, grocery shopping, gym, book club…. All the things you scheduled. How do you plan? Do you have time for focused work? Do you have time for lunch? Will you have time to help your kiddos with their homework or just go for a walk?

I like to simplify. With simplicity, I can focus more on the things that matter most. So how do I do it?

Automate. What can be automatic? For example, all my bills are set to come out automatically from my checking account on the due date and reconcile weekly, done in a couple of minutes. I also like to set up automated email sequences for my clients. It saves me a lot of time. What can you automate?

Delegate. Can you ask your co-workers or employees to do some of the jobs that you do? Can you ask your kiddos to pitch into the family contributions, such as doing the dishes, vacuuming, and mopping? Bonus: you will be able to spend more quality time together.

Eliminate. This is my favorite one. Do you have an invitation to a lot of meetings? Ask yourself: “Am I contributing to these meetings? Are the slides included in the invite?” If you are not contributing and/or you can just go over the slides yourself in a couple of minutes, decline the meeting. Spend this time on something that is more important. How many meetings can you eliminate? Or do you go to the grocery store several times a week? Can you just go once a week instead?

Reply here, I would love to hear your story. What is the one item that you automated, delegated, or eliminated today?
