Green Smoothie Basics and Variations

I love smoothies because you can add your favorite leafy greens, veggies, fruits, herbs, and spices, so you end up getting not only a good amount of fiber loaded with vitamins but antioxidants too! All in one delicious drink!


  • 3/4 amount of green leafy greens (spinach or kale)

  • 1/4 amount of fruit

  • 1 tbs flax seed

  • 1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

  • 1-2 leaves of fresh herbs like mint, basil, or spices like a hint of cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom

  • Almond or other non-dairy milk or water for desired consistency

  • Ice, if not using frozen fruit and you like your smoothie cold


Place all ingredients in this order in a good quality blender and blend for 20-30 seconds.

Cool Tip: If you are just starting out, experiment with more fruit and fewer greens and gradually change the ratio.
